If you are outside the cities of Ponderay and Kootenai, you will need to obtain a permit through Idaho Department of Lands at the IDL link above. Ponderay and Kootenai residents will obtain a year round permit from Northside Fire. New permits can be obtained by clicking the icon above, renewals can be done by phone at 208-265-4114 or by clicking the above link, just indicate renewal next to your name.

Northside Fire District Information Bulletin

The Northside Fire District is in "CRITICAL NEED OF VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS" to supplement our existing staff of paid firefighters. The District is a "Combination Fire Department", which utilizes both paid and volunteer firefighters for response to emergency incidents. Due to the shortage of personnel, often times only 1 or 2 firefighters are initially able to respond to serious calls such as critical medical incidents, structure fires, vehicle accidents and wildland fires.
